Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? P lease understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their Ass doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? Pass this along if you agree or simply ignore if you don't. Hope you all will pass it along, though. Some thing has to change in this country -- and soon!!!!!!! I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'. |

I'm gonna have to agree with you on this one XNavy. While I don't have a problem with people recieving welfare till they get back on their feet, it seems that they never do. In our state they have changed quite a few of the welfare laws though. If a recipient is to recieve "Cash assistance" they must go through a job preperation class and the state actually helps them be placed into employment. Also for a woman who is pregnant or has multiple children, she must sue for support from the father of her children. She will then recieve only $50.00 per month ...so you see the father is paying our domestic relations to pay the cash assistance back that the woman recieves..I think that is a good idea. Keeps the woman from punchin more kids out to up her amount of cash assistance recieves. They are making them seek employment and get off the system. It's just that the illegal aliens are now recieving welfare also ...We pay for it with our American Tax dollars and they aren't even American citizens. That's what gets me! I'll pass this along for sure! |

I don't like the fact employer's are allowed to make you take a piss test. What's the difference what I do with my own time as long as I'm doing my job correctly? If they have reason to suspect I'm doing something wrong while working and then tell me I need to take one, so be it. But doing so beforehand isn't right in my opinion. I'd get into it more but it would just turn into a rant at the moment. Now, in regards to people on welfare having to pass one in order to get placed on it, I can understand Gunner's point and would have to say I can't really argue against it. I suppose I could if I really wanted, but I understand what his point is. |

If you can afford to get stoned or tweaked, then you don't need welfare. |

But what if I can't afford to get stoned without my welfare check? Seriously though, I know what you're saying and your right. Thing is, you could substitute a lot of things in place of "stoned or tweaked" that people getting welfare checks waste their money on. If they can't spend it on pot (or some other drug), they are just as likely to waste it on something else... at least I tend to think they would. |

I say go get a job...don't want to spend my hard earned tax dollars paying for someone else to live the free life. As far as a urine test...some companies require that it's a necessary thing. While I don't agree with it...if you want the job make sure you read the fine print. |

Whats the difference between spending your hard earned money on those who cannot support themselves and this bail out plan. Not to mention from my understanding those checks you all received from the state practically came from our tax payer dollars. @ lefty. There is alot of things I see people that use there money that to me would be considered a waste. As such I know a woman who once worked at the same restaurant I am currently working at now, She was going to court for some settlements Had something to do with her boyfriend or something. Asked that she get $30,000 ended up winning but only got half of what she asked. The way I hear it is that she partied hardy with that extra cash going out and getting drunk when ever she pleased. It wasn't till a week ago that I saw her. She pretty much used up her spending cash and is now looking for work. I think that this Urine test is simply ideal for those employers, Heck would you want an employee who was doing drugs all the time and not only that but made the work environment a dangerous place? @ Isis it would seem that people have exploited a way to get there welfare checks eh. A woman getting pregnant is practically the best way of going about it. I am not sure about the other ways. But it seems like there is a real problem here with people taking money they never earned or deserved. |

I don't care if the person smokes pot. As long as they were sober at work for me I don't care much else about what they put in their body either. If you are going to refuse employment of someone because they puff on a joint every now and then, than you should refuse employment of people who like to get drunk every once in a while too. There's no difference. What a person does on their own time, as long as it doesn't affect their performance at work, shouldn't matter much when it comes to employing someone. That's just my opinion though. I'd expand on it more, but I'm not in the mood to at the moment.
