Why is it that all of the religious people on the planet say that God is omnipotent, and that God knows all, and that God can't make mistakes, and then run all over the place killing and maiming one another to make up for God's errors and ommisions?

I think there will be those that will explain it away as Human failings through freedom of choice, and not the failings of an omnipotent entity. |

Jesus called himself, as I recall, The Morning Star, the bringer of light. Interesting it is that the Latin word which meant "the bringer of light" was Lucifer. Matter of fact. Also interesting is that in the Book of Job, the as he is now referred to had a job testing the faith in God of individual humans. Job, having suffered greatly, did not lose faiith in God, and was amply rewarded by God for his faith. As I also recall, Abraham was tested by God when God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his son, Issac. Abraham was about to do exactly that when God halted him. Abraham showed that without doubt that he had faith in God. Now Jesus, in his Sermon on the Mount instructed his followers to do what can easily be seen as plain old crazy . . . as crazy as was telling Abraham to sacrifice his son. What a kick in the pants it would be if Jesus was really about testing the faith of people by instructing them to do crazy things to see if they had faith in God . . . if so, the religious have all been found wanting. |

Best quote about religion I have ever seen: "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use"-Galileo Galilei Or "It is very pious to say and prudent to affirm that the holy Bible can never speak untruth -- whenever its true meaning is understood. But I believe nobody will deny that it is often very abstruse, and may say things which are quite different from what its bare words signify." God I love Galileo Edited by hunter207, Nov 7 2009, 07:19 PM.
